KIEV, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- China-Ukraine Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) exhibition kicked off at the Kiev International Exhibition Center Tuesday, showcasing high-tech achievements of the two countries.
The event was co-organized by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The exhibition is aimed at pushing forward China's Belt and Road Initiative and deepening cooperation between China and Ukraine.
Covering an area of about 2,200 square meters, the exhibition has been the largest high-tech one jointly organized by China and Ukraine since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1992.
At the event, 220 exhibitors are displaying over 500 projects on the energy conservation, environmental protection, smart robotics, virtual reality, medical technologies and innovative transport.
A total of 64 research institutions and enterprises from China brought about 150 innovative projects to the exhibition.
The exposition consists of two main exhibition areas -- one displaying China's STI achievements in nanotechnologies, electronics, information, Internet and automation, space industry, agricultural technologies and other areas, while the other showcasing achievements of Chinese-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of science and technology.
"This international exhibition demonstrates the need and the importance of innovations and modernization -- the things, which are essential nowadays. It creates a platform for communication, exchange of experience and knowledge," Stepan Kubiv, Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister, said during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Meanwhile, Li Meng, China's Vice Minister of Science and Technology, said "today's exhibition is a result of the cooperation, which is already underway" and the event will further cement cooperation between China and Ukraine in various high-tech fields.
The China-Ukraine STI exhibition runs until Nov. 24.
