CPC Central Committee congratulates CPWDP national congress

BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) issued a statement Monday, congratulating the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) on the opening of its 16th national congress.

As a time-tested intimate partner with the CPC and one of the participating parties in building Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, the CPWDP has played an important role during the country's process of standing up, growing rich and becoming strong, according to the statement.

The CPWDP is also an important force in securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, accomplishing Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, as well as realizing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, the statement said.

During the past five years, the CPWDP has focused on the overall development of itself and the country, giving full play to its advantages in improvement of China's medicine and healthcare, population resources and ecological environment, it added.

The CPWDP has provided valuable suggestions for the Party and the government, such as to increase science and technology investment in analyzing the cause of the smog and its prevention measures, raise life expectancy, and approve the second child policy.

The Central Committee of the CPC will continue to follow the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and insist on the multi-party cooperation and political consultation system under the leadership of the CPC, according to the statement.

In the meantime, the CPWDP is encouraged to follow major tasks raised at the 19th CPC National Congress and give full play to its strength in improving the health of the people, promoting the development of medicine and healthcare, as well as the construction of ecological civilization.

Founded in August 1930 in Shanghai, the CPWDP is comprised of members who are mainly intellectuals in the fields of healthcare, population resources and ecological protection.
