BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai General Motors Wuling (SGMW) is to recall almost 940,000 cars over problems with the fuel tank vent hose, China's product quality watchdog said Friday.

The recall will start from Friday and involve Baojun 730 models produced between June 3, 2014 and Oct. 13, 2016, and Baojun 560 models produced between June 2, 2015 and Sept. 30 this year, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The fuel tank vent hose in the vehicles may crack and leak due to long-term use, the statement said.

The company will replace the defective hose free of charge, the administration said.

Established in 2002, SGMW is a three-shareholder joint venture, with capital from SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co. Limited and GM China, a unit of U.S. carmaker General Motors in China.
