BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- A magnitude-6.0 earthquake jolted 19 km northeast of Bahia de Caraquez on the western coast of Ecuador at 1119 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 24.73 km, was initially determined to be at 0.4845 degrees south latitude and 80.2823 degrees west longitude. The quake was felt in 12 provinces around the country, according to USGS.
No casualty or major damage from the quake has been reported so far. Local authorities said there was no tsuami threat from the tremor and called for calm.
