CHANGSHA, April 7 (Xinhua) -- A direct flight opened Thursday between Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, and Moscow.

The flight is operated by Moscow-based I-Fly Airlines. The Airbus 330-300 aircraft will fly between the two cities every Thursday with a travel time of 8.5 hours.

On Thursday, the inaugural flight carried 314 passengers from Changsha Huanghua international airport to Moscow.

In 2016, 67 airlines operated in Changsha with 158 air routes linking Changsha with other cities at home and abroad, including Los Angeles, Sydney and Melbourne.

It is the fifth intercontinental air route to operate at Changsha airport. It is expected to meet the growing demand of outbound tourists and boost the local economy.
