BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Two ruthless terrorist attacks at London Bridge and its nearby Borough Market on Saturday night involving a speeding van and a stabbing rampage have rocked Britain and the world.

The following are a string of terrorist incidents that struck Britain and stunned the world in recent years.

LONDON BRIDGE TERROR INCIDENT

A van was suddenly driven into pedestrians as it was accelerating across London Bridge on Saturday night. To the south of the bridge, a knife-wielding man stabbed people in a restaurant at Borough Market.

Police confirmed that six victims were dead, and three suspects were shot dead after the attack. At least 20 people were sent to six hospitals across London, according to the latest statement by the London Ambulance Service.

MANCHESTER ARENA BOMBING

A British suicide attacker detonated a bomb at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, shortly after a concert of American singer Ariana Grande on May 22.

The large explosion, declared by local police as a terrorist attack, claimed the lives of 22 people and injured 116, marking the most deadly terror-related incident in Britain since 2005.

WESTMINSTER ATTACK

A car veered into pedestrians at a high speed on Westminster Bridge near the Palace of Westminster in London, the British Parliament building, on March 22, killing at least four people and wounded 40 others.

The driver then stabbed an unarmed police officer to death after he abandoned the car and ran into the entrance of the Houses of Parliament.

MURDER OF JO COX

British Labour Party Member of Parliament (MP) Jo Cox died after being shot and stabbed multiple times in Bristall, West Yorkshire, England on June 16, 2016.

Cox was chosen for attack as a defender of the European Union and immigration, making him the first incumbent British MP killed since 1990.

LEYTONSTONE TUBE STATION ATTACK

A man attacked three people with a knife at Leytonstone tube station in East London on Dec. 5, 2015. One of the victims was seriously injured, and the other two suffered slight injuries.

Local police dealt with the attack as a terrorist incident, as the knifeman reportedly claimed it was in revenge for Syria during the attack.
