BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Cai Mingzhao met with director general of Russia's Tass news agency Sergey Mikhaylov here on Tuesday, agreeing to enhance ties.

Cai welcomed Mikhaylov to the BRICS Media Forum scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in Beijing, saying he hoped the forum would help create favorable atmosphere for the upcoming BRICS Summit.

China, which took over the BRICS presidency this year, will host the Ninth BRICS Summit in September in Xiamen, Fujian Province.

Xinhua appreciates Tass's support for the BRICS Media Forum and related activities, according to Cai.

Hailing bilateral close relationship, Cai stressed that Xinhua is willing to enhance coordination with Tass to contribute more to China-Russia ties.

Mikhaylov said that he is very glad to attend the BRICS Media Forum and is looking forward to greater achievements of Tass-Xinhua cooperation.

The BRICS Media Forum, proposed by Xinhua and jointly organized by mainstream media groups of BRICS countries, will be attended by the leaders of 25 media groups from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Attendees will discuss topics including multimedia innovation for media development, as well as media outlets social responsibility.

During the forum, there will be a BRICS Media Joint Photo Exhibition to show the development and cooperation achievements of BRICS.
