SYDNEY, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Australia Zoo, home of the late and world famous crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, unveiled their latest addition on Tuesday, a new baby koala.

The koala joey named "Macadamia," was the first joey of the season, and made his debut to a welcoming public at the zoo in the Australian state of Queensland's far north region.

The proud mother, Willow, was happily showing off her new baby, as onlookers jostled to catch a glimpse of the newest addition to the koala sanctuary at the zoo.

As koalas are marsupials, when he was born, Macadamia would have been the size of a bean, and survived for 22 weeks inside the warmth of his mother's pouch, and is only now big enough to able to go in and out as he pleases.

Twelve more koala joeys were born after Macadamia, and are expected to take center stage after they grow large enough.
