SKOPJE, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The European Parliament (EP) members voted Wednesday to adopt a European Commission's resolution on 2016 progress report for Macedonia.

With 503 votes in favor, 113 votes against and 45 abstentions, the European Parliament approved the resolution which has actually been delayed several times due to the political crisis in Macedonia, EP press office said.

The European Parliament said in the resolution published on EP official website that it welcomed the formation of a new government in Macedonia on May 31 and urged it, together with all political parties, to restore confidence in the country and its institutions, Macedonian Information Agency reported from Brussels.

According to MEPs, Macedonia's new government has to maintain efforts towards EU integration and fully commit to robust reforms in the areas of rule of law, justice, fundamental rights, home affairs and good neighborly relations.

On the other hand, EP noted in the resolution that once there was tangible progress in implementing the 2015 Przino agreement and on urgent reform priorities, it would support opening accession negotiations into the EU.
