VIENTIANE, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Youngsters from across Laos are currently participating in a talent based "sport school" organized by Lao National Sports Training Center in capital Vientiane from Monday this week to next Wednesday.

A total of 83 talented students were selected from localities for sports such as Muay Lao, archery, karatedo, taekwondo, judo, wushu, weightlifting, pencak silat, track and field events, reported Lao state-run media Vientiane Times on Wednesday.

All the students participating are 15 years old and have recently completed their fourth grade of secondary school. Instructors and coaches from the camp will select the top 60 athletes who perform the best during the training activities with the sport school to continue their assistance to nurture the teenagers' talents into the future.

Sporting authorities expect the program will help identify outstanding young athletes in each field who will hopefully represent the nation in future competitions.

Officials will eye the young athletes currently attending the sport school for selection in the Lao team which will compete at the ASEAN Schools Games in Singapore next month. Enditem
