GABORONE, July 11 (Xinhua) -- A female trainee pilot lost her life Monday afternoon when an aircraft she was operating crashed at Lentsweletau village in southern Botswana.

Minister of Transport and Communications Kitso Mokaila told Xinhua that the Sling II aircraft, registered A2-USC, belongs to International Aviation Solutions (IAS), an aviation academy based in Gaborone.

According to the minister, the aircraft was on a routine solo flight training when the accident occurred.

"The cause of the accident is yet to be established and subject to the ongoing investigations," said Mokaila. He said a team of air safety investigators from his ministry had instituted investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
