MOGADISHU, July 12 (Xinhua) -- A student and a soldier were killed on Wednesday after gunmen in a vehicle opened fire at an army checkpoint in Yakhshid district in Mogadishu, capital of Somalia.
Mogadishu local government spokesperson Abdifitah Omar Halane said that security forces are pursuing the perpetrators of the latest attack in Mogadishu.
"Four armed men in a small vehicle opened fire to an army checkpoint north of Mogadishu's Yakshid district today, a female student (14) and a government soldier were killed and two other soldiers were injured in the attack," Halane said.
Halane said that there is ongoing operation to find perpetrators who carried out the attack, saying the number plate of the vehicle in which the attackers used, were recognized.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack in Mogadishu but such attack comes after weeks of relative peace in the restive city. Enditem
