The Gambia establishes Commission of Inquiry into ex-president's assets

BANJUL, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The Gambian president Adama Barrow on Thursday presided over the swearing in ceremony for the 4 members of the Commission of Inquiry who are mandated to investigate the assets and properties of former president Yahya Jammeh and his associates.

President Adama Barrow said the commission is established in line with section 200 (1) of the 1997 Constitution of the Gambia.

"This commission is mandated to look into the managements of some public enterprises as well as assets and financial transactions of the former president Yahya Jammeh and some of his associates," he said. Enditem
