CHANGCHUN, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Virtual reality (VR) technology is popular at an ongoing auto show in northeast China.

The 14th China Changchun International Automobile Expo started Friday in Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, with more than 1,300 vehicles exhibited over an area of about 220,000 square meters.

Exhibitors are offering VR glasses for visitors to experience smart car models.

"With VR technology, when customers start the model's engine, they get to feel the bumpiness of the road and the turning of the car as if they were driving over real roads and curves," said one exhibitor.

A series of forums will be held during the expo, with experts expected to convene on issues such as new energy vehicles, the development of smart cars and industry bottlenecks.

The expo will conclude on July 23.
