YANGON, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will host the 6th ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) plus 8 Gems and Jewelry Presidents' Summit on Aug. 4, Myanmar Gems and Jewelry Entrepreneurs Association told a press conference Friday.
Aimed at promoting cooperation within gems and jewelry industry and relationship between ASEAN member states and partner countries and regions, the first-ever summit of its kind will be held at Myanmar International Convention Center in Nay Pyi Taw.
Partner countries and regions include China, China's Taiwan, India, Japan and South Korea and gemology students in Myanmar are invited to the summit.
Meanwhile, the 54th Myanmar Gem Emporium and Myanmar Gem and Jewellery's Day will also be held in the same month, Dr. Aung Kyaw Win, vice-chairman of Myanmar Gems and Jewelry Entrepreneurs Association (Yangon) said.
The summit, which involves gemologists from home and abroad, will focus on topics of natural gems of Myanmar and value added supply chain.
The summit was annually held in Thailand in 2012 and 2014, Malaysia in 2015 and Vietnam in 2016.
