HANOI, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam ranked 101st out of 193 countries with a score of 0.245 in the Global Cyber security Index (GCI) 2017 compiled by the International Telecommunication Union, while Singapore topped the ranking with a score of 0.925.
Vietnam fell 25 places due to the cyber attacks on the country's major airlines last year and the widespread Wannacry ransomware infections in May this year, Vietnam News Agency reported on Tuesday.
Over 1,900 computers in Vietnam, including some 1,600 units of 243 organizations and enterprises, and around 300 others of individuals, were infected with the globally notorious ransomware, the country's leading security firm BKAV said told Xinhua in mid-May.
The GCI is a survey that measures the commitment of the union's member states to cyber security to classify and project development process at the regional and global levels. It is based on five pillars: technical, organizational, legal, capacity building and cooperation.
