PARIS, July 25 (Xinhua) -- France will raise international aid devoted mainly to help African states to reduce poverty and improve education and health services, President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday.
During a meeting on Monday with Irish singer Paul David Hewson, known as Bono, who is also founder of non-governmental organization ONE that fights extreme poverty in Africa, Macron promised to increase aid in most fragile countries to 0.55 percent of the gross domestic product during his five-year mandate.
"He reaffirmed determination to implement an ambitious policy of international cooperation and development," his office said in a statement.
The French support will focus on ways to help reduce poverty, and implement development projects aimed to ameliorate health and education services notably in African countries, it added.
