LUSAKA, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Wildlife authorities in Zambia on Tuesday revealed that they have arrested 17 people in the north of the country over various wildlife offenses.
The Department of National Parks and Wildlife said the suspects were arrested with guns and other weapons as well as in possession of wildlife products.
Among the wildlife products included four lion claws, two cat skins, two python skins, one crocodile skull, 4.5 kilogram of porcupine meat, 5 kilograms of bush meat, seven wildebeest tails, one Zebra skin, one piece of elephant skin and four warthog teeth.
The suspects, who were arrested in different localities, were also found in possession of various tools for manufacturing firearms, bow and arrow, gun powder, four pellets and an AK47 rifle.
The arrests were made during an operation carried out in two chiefdoms in the province.
