SARAJEVO, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), will see an extended night water reduction period as an extreme heat wave hitting the country has strained its water resources, Cantonal Public Utility Company Water and Sewage (KJKP ViK) said on Friday.

"With the arrival of extremely hot days, which have had a direct impact on reducing resource abundance, and because of an increase in consumer spending, the night water reductions' time from 24:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. is inadequate to fully fill the tanks. In the coming days, the water reduction will be made for the period from 23:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in the morning," said press office of KJKP ViK.

The Federal Institute for Hydrometeorology Wednesday issued red alert for Herzegovina, southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) due to extremely high temperature. In Sarajevo, the highest day temperature reached 38 degrees Celsius on Friday.
