JAKARTA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's indigenous commercial plane created under national strategic programs, the R-80, is scheduled to make its maiden flight in 2022, delivered to national airlines by 2025, an official of the plane maker firm said Monday.

The passenger plane was designed and produced by Indonesian firm Regio Aviasi Industri (RAI), adopting advanced flight instruments, including the fly-by-wire technology, and is fit to serve regional flights.

"After we get the flight certification from authorized agencies, we will start delivering our planes to our national customers in 2025," RAI Deputy Financing Director Desra Firza Ghazfan said on the sidelines of a technology exhibition here.

The R-80 plane was derived from the popular model of N-250 plane developed by national aviation industry of PTDI and has a capacity to transport up to 90 people on board.

Desra said that as of now RAI has received 155 orders from several national airlines keen to use the plane soon after it is certified to serve.
