VIENTIANE, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- The governments of Laos and Cambodia are working together to address border issues in a peaceful means, bringing the situation back to normalcy, Phengsavanh Keopaseuth, head of National Border Committee of Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a press conference Thursday.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen visited Vientiane on Aug. 12 to discuss with his Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith solutions to problems related to disputed border areas, state-run Lao News Agency (KPL) quoted the official as saying.

The talks between the two prime ministers resulted in an agreement.

Both leaders also agreed that border committees of the two countries and the two ministries of foreign affairs in particular will continue to hold talks to find solutions to issues related to the border.

Cambodia shares about 540 km of border with Laos to the north and northeast. To date, the two neighbors have achieved 86 percent of the border demarcation.
