TEHRAN, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the recent deadly terrorist attack in Spain city of Barcelona as "inhumane and horrific" act.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry extended condolences to the families of victims, the Spanish nation and the government.

"Following the successive defeats of the extremist terrorists in the region, they have resorted to blind terrorism across the world to target the innocent and common people," Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said.

The unbound terrorism has turned into a reality and a global issue, Qasemi said, adding that therefore, solving this problem requires a global determination.

A van ploughed into a busy pedestrian zone Thursday in Barcelona, killing at least 13 people and injuring over 100 others.

The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
