ZAGREB, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- For the first time since 2004 when Promocija plus agency started a regular monthly poll on social and political preferences in Croatia, the most popular politician in the country is "No one", Croatian National Television reported on Wednesday.

According to the latest survey conducted from Sept. 1 to Sept. 4, some 23.3 percent of respondents said that there is no positive politician in Croatia. After "No one", the second most popular politician is Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic (15.8 percent), while the third place belongs to Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic (11.2 percent).

The prime minister is also on the list of the most negative politicians where he took the first place with 19.2 percent votes. The second place belongs to "all politicians" (13.7 percent).

In this month's survey, 73.4 percent of respondents believe that Croatia is heading in the wrong direction. The government's support is also declining. In the 11th month of its term, it has 36 percent approval, compared to 40.7 percent in August.

Although the poll shows significant dissatisfaction and discontent with the government and politicians, voters would still vote for the same parties if the parliamentary election took place at the beginning of September.

The ruling center-right party, Croatian Democratic Union, is still the most popular party (34 percent support, compared to 34.2 percent last month) and it would be a relative winner of the election. The biggest opposition party, social-democrats, recorded a slight rise, from 22.1 percent in August to 23.1 percent in September.
