TOKYO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Thursday, with investors opting to secure gains following the market's recent run of closing highs.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 5.89 points, or 0.03 percent, from Wednesday to 19,859.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.77 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,636.56.
Insurance and real estate issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
