LONDON, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Horror film "It" has seen a global box office success in its first week, but has also came as a worrisome message for the clown community, which fears the movie would reinforce clowns' image as scary, the Guardian reported.
The movie is the latest adaptation of horror master Stephen King's novel, which depicts a child-killing clown villain, played by Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard.
Some clowns are already complaining that their business has been compromised due to the negative perception of clowns the movie has led to. Even before the film's release, the World Clown Association warned about the potential risk of job losing for its members.
The industry is still trying to recover from the "devastating" impact of last year's global "killer clown" craze, in which people wear clown costumes to scare passers-by, the report noted.
Not all clowns are troubled by the release of the movie though, as bookings for some performance companies increased, boosting the confidence of the clown community.
