Chinese tourists visit the Karnak Temple in Luxor, Egypt, on Sept. 10, 2017. Egypt is eager to tap into the Chinese market to revive its ailing tourism industry, Governor of Egypt's Luxor Governorate Mohamed Badr told Xinhua in a recent interview. China has become the fourth largest exporter of tourists to Egypt since the beginning of 2017. Official figures from the Egyptian Embassy in Beijing show a total of 147,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt in the first five months of 2017, marking a 94 percent rise from the same period last year.
