PHNOM PENH, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan will pay an official visit to Cambodia from Oct. 17 to 18 to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation, said a Cambodian Foreign Ministry statement on Friday.

During his stay in Phnom Penh, Balakrishnan will hold talks with his Cambodian counterpart Prak Sokhonn before signing a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultation between the two foreign ministries, the statement said.

Besides, the Singapore top diplomat will be received in a royal audience by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace and pay a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Peace Palace, it said.

According to the statement, since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1965, the two ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states have enjoyed good cooperation as seen by the exchange of high-level visits and notable increase of mutual trade.

"The official visit of Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan to Cambodia will bolster both countries' commitment to promote the excellent relations of friendship and close cooperation in both bilateral and regional frameworks," it said.
