Huge fire breaks out in lakeside hotel in Myanmar's Yangon

YANGON, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A huge fire broke out in Kandawgyi Palace Hotel, a famous hotel on the Kandawgyi lakeside in Yangon, almost burning down the whole hotel building early Thursday.

The fire, which started at about 03:00 a.m. local time, intensified after gas cylinders exploded, eyewitnesses said.

"Fire has been burning down the hotel since two hours ago. At present, the guests are evacuated to the safe places," an official from fire service department told Xinhua.
