BEIRUT, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Two visiting U.S. officials stressed on Thursday the importance of Lebanon's security, stability and prosperity, the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon said in a statement.
The remarks were made by Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee (HAC) Rodney Frelinghuysen and his fellow HAC member Henry Cuellar, during their meeting with Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Joseph Aoun.
Frelinghuysen and Cuellar reiterated the "U.S. intention to maintain a strong partnership with the people and institutions of Lebanon and the importance of Lebanon's security, stability and prosperity."
They also discussed during the meeting "the effectiveness of U.S. military assistance to Lebanon."
According to the statement, Frelinghuysen has led a U.S. delegation of lawmakers to pay a four-day visit to Lebanon, during which they had visited the Hamat air base and observed the newly-arrived vehicles and aircraft provided by the United States.
