HANOI, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has planned to post a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.5-6.7 percent next year, compared with the target of 6.7 percent set for this year, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday told local legislators.

The prime minister presented the government's report on national socio-economic situations in 2017 and initial socioeconomic targets in 2018 at the fourth session of the 14th National Assembly of Vietnam, the country's top legislature, which opened on Monday.

Other initial socioeconomic development targets set for next year include an increase of 7-8 percent in export turnovers, a rise of some 4 percent in consumer price index, an urban unemployment rate of below 4 percent, trade deficit accounting for below 3 percent of export turnovers, and total investment capital making up 33-34 percent of GDP.

Vietnam, whose economy grew 6.41 percent in the first nine months of this year, is likely to post GDP growth of 6.7 percent as targeted by the National Assembly, the prime minister said, adding that the country's foreign reserve hit an all-time record high of 45 billion U.S. dollars as of early October.

Vietnam's GDP is likely to grow 6.3 percent in 2017, and around 6.4 percent from 2018 to 2019, the World Bank recently stated.

Meanwhile, the Asian Development Bank forecast Vietnam's GDP growth will stand at 6.3 percent this year, and 6.5 percent next year.

During the month-long session, the National Assembly will approve six draft laws, and give comments on nine other bills.
