MADRID, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Spain's consumer prices rose by 1.6 percent in October 2017 when compared with the same month last year, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published by Spain's Statistical Office (INE) on Monday.

The figure is 0.2 percent lower than the annual rate of September, when consumer prices rose by 1.8 percent.

Spain's prices have risen for 14 months in a row on a year-on-year basis.

On a month-to-month basis, Spain's prices rose by 0.9 percent in October.

Spain's economy minister, Luis de Guindos, said the government expected the inflation rate to slow down in the following months.

The INE will confirm this data on Nov. 14 when it will provide more information about the evolution of prices in Spain.
