WUHAN, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Wuhan Marathon Swimming, the first of the kind in the capital city of central China's Hubei Province, kicked off on Sunday attracting around 1,100 participants including 76 professional swimmers and 1030 swimming fans.
The competition, held in East Lake, comprises a 10 kilometers competitive swimming and a 1.2 kilometers health swimming for teams.
The competitive swimming is divided into male and female groups. Champion of each group will be awarded 10,000 dollars and those who finish the swimming will get 3,000 yuan per person.
According to the organizers, 1,030 swimmers, aged from 27 to 66, will take part in the health swimming and another 76 have signed for the 10 kilometers competitive swimming.
