A program to create more jobs for migrant workers' left-behind wives to make their own livelihoods was launched in Shangshui County in 2012. A total of 582 companies, demonstration bases and workshops manufacturing garments, textile, electronics products, food products, etc. have been set up over the past five years. The number of employees reached over 110,000 and their annual per capita income rose by 12,000 yuan (1,811 U.S. dollars). As a result, 20,000 people got rid of poverty. (Xinhua/Li Xin)
