Chinese, Indonesian institutions ink MoU to expand cultural exchanges

JAKARTA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Officials of China and Indonesia arts and cultural institutions signed here on Friday an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further promote cultural mission exchanges, theater performance cooperation between the two countries.

Signing of the document was conducted by President of China Arts and Entertainment Group (CEAG) Li Jinsheng and President Director of Indonesia's arts promoter institution, Ciputra Artpreneur, Rina Ciputra Sastrawinata in the latter's office here.

The document signing marked Indonesia's acceptance to take part in cultural, theater performances staged under Silk Road International League of Theaters (SRILT) cooperation.

"We expected to see more of cultural performer groups here in Indonesia, would warmly welcome Indonesian cultural performances in SRILT stages," Li said on the sidelines of the signing session.

The document was signed for a cooperation between Ciputra Artpreneur with a CEAG subsidiary, China Performing Arts Agency (CPAA).

The MoU signing would also pave the way for Indonesian cultural missions to stage their performances in countries joined in SRILT, an opened and inclusive organization.

The CPAA theater is now joined by 70 theater groups from China that perform more than 5,000 plays each year, watched by 4.2 million ones.

"In theater section, we expect to see more exchanges between the two countries," Li added.

Further assistance in management training for those working in theater and cultural performances as well as in cultural mission exchanges would also be conducted through the MoU document signing.
