WUHAN, China, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The roof of Dongxihu Sports Center, built for the 7th Military World Games, was finished ahead of schedule on Tuesday in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province.

The construction of the center is projected to be completed by the end of 2018 and test events will be held in March, 2019.

Football and table tennis competitions of the Military World Games will be held in the center, of which the building standard is strict.

After the games, the center, as a gymnasium and a place for leisure and exhibitions, will be open to the public.

According to the organizing committee of the Military World Games, 31 stadiums are needed. Ten of them are newly-built while another 21 are existing ones. All of the construction and reconstruction will be finished by June, 2019.

An athletes' village with about 2,200 apartments is under construction for the 7th Military World Games, the first time in the Games' history.

The opening and closing ceremonies of the Games will be held in Wuhan Sports Center, which has already been put into use in 2002.
