Myanmar's foreign trade hits over 16 bln USD in 1st half of FY 2017-2018

YANGON, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's foreign trade hit 16.3 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of fiscal year 2017-2018 which started in April, but suffered a trade deficit of 1.86 billion U.S. dollars, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Tuesday.

During the period, the country's export reached 7.2 billion dollars, of which normal export stood 4.9 billion dollars, while its border trade export took 2.3 billion dollars.

Its import value shared 9.09 billion dollars, of which normal import showed 7.64 billion dollars, while that through border gates registered 1.45 billion dollars.

The trade value for the single month of September amounted to 3.2 billion dollars with trade deficit of over 266 million dollars.
