2017 Moscow-Hainan tourism promotion campaign (Haikou and Qionghai Session) was held in Moscow this September.

The campaign witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Haikou tourism commission and the Moscow regional ethnic tourism commission.

The agreement plans to increase airlines flights between Haikou and Russia to attract more Russian tourists to Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province.

This was not the first time for Haikou to promote its tourism in Moscow.

This time, Haikou’s tourism image and tourism experience became two highlights.

Ten products featuring tourism resources of Haikou were introduced to Russian tourism industry, including marine tourism, physical therapy tourism, golf tour, gourmet travel, etc.

In addition, tea culture, traditional Chinese medical (TCM) therapy like acupuncture, cupping were also displayed in the campaign.

TCM therapy products got special favor among Russian tourists.

Haikou also offered its favorable policies for Russian tourists, such as airlines reward, travel agency reward, visa waiver and offshore duty-free.

Russia is now Hainan’s largest foreign tourist market. In 2016, Hainan received 81,000 Russian tourists, accounting for 10.81 percent of the total inbound visitors.

This year witnessed a surge of Russian tourist numbers to Hainan, with total number expected to reach 250,000 to 350,000, outstripping a record number of 227,600 in 2011.

As China's southernmost island province, Hainan is a famous tourist destination for its pleasant climate and amazing beach landscape.
