China's youth swimming tournament kicks off in Inner Mongolia

HOHHOT, China, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- A total of 240 swimmers from 17 teams across China on Friday gathered for the 2017 National Youth Swimming Tournament in Ordos City, northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Professional swimmers will compete in the breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly stroke, freestyle and medley events during the four-day events, organizers said.

Chinese competitive swimmer Li Bingjie, who had won the 400-meter free with a then world leading time of 4:02.52 at the Chinese National Championships in April 2017, will compete with others.

Amateurs aged between 13 to 18 will also participate in the teenagers' events.
