JERUSALEM, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli court had extended Monday the custody of a Palestinian girl who became a national Palestinian heroine after she was caught on video kicking Israeli soldiers in her West Bank village.

The Ofer Military Court in the Israeli-occupied West Bank remanded Ahed Tamimi in custody by additional four days.

On Dec. 15, Tamimi and another girl approached the Israeli soldiers outside their home in Nabi Salah, and told them to leave, according to a video footage. Tamimi then pushed and kicked the soldiers.

The video footage quickly became viral and was widely broadcast in Israel. Three days after the incident, amidst uproar in Israel, troops raided Tamimi's home, arresting her and her mother.

The arrests sparked a public campaign in the West Bank and Israel calling for an immediate release of Tamimi.

The Palestinians struggle against the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, territories that Israel seized in the 1967 war despite international criticism.
