NAIROBI, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Monday.

-- The driver of the Nairobi-bound bus that killed 38 people on Sunday was overtaking on the climbing lane as it went downhill at Migaa in Nakuru. Survivors revealed the bus driver veered into the lane reserved for vehicles going up as he tried to overtake, making him crash into a trailer that was on the outer lane driving into the opposite direction. The driver might also have been asleep and speeding during the 3 a.m. accident that was the worst along the busy highway in 2017. (The Standard)
