National legislature vows to keep in line with Party leadership

BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Leading Party members of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee on Wednesday vowed to stay in line with the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core.

At a meeting presided over by Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, the leading Party members' group of the NPC Standing Committee studied Xi's speech at the second plenary session of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC.

They pledged to firmly safeguard Xi's status as the core of the CPC Central Committee and the whole Party and the authority and centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, said a statement issued after the meeting.

The NPC Standing Committee will ensure Party's leadership in all aspects and the whole procedure of the legislature's work, the statement said.

It will strictly implement political discipline, curb undesirable work styles, improve internal management and expand connection with the people, the statement said.
