PARIS, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Marseille regained their second position on Ligue 1 table as they won 2-0 at Caen on Friday to record fourth straight league win.

Marseille winger Dimitri Payet broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a spot kick, followed by Florian Thauvin's brilliant strike on 74 minutes, his 10th goal of the campaign.

Marseille provisionally moved past Lyon, who will host leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, to sit second, nine points adrift of PSG.

Defending champions Monaco will face bottom sides Metz at home on Sunday.
