Red Cross committee provides medial assistance to Libyan hospitals

TRIPOLI, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The International Committee of the Red Cross said Sunday that emergency medical assistance has been provided to two Libyan hospitals.

"Following the recent armed clashes that broke out around M'etiga airport in Tripoli, the International Committee of the Red Cross has provided urgent medical assistance," the committee said in a press release.

The committee pointed out that the assistance was provided to two government hospitals to help treat people injured by the clashes.

Heavy clashes had broken out at the airport after an armed group attacked the security force of the airport.

The clashes killed 21 people and injured 69 others, including civilians.

The airport was reopened on Saturday after five days of closure.
