SHANGHAI, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai health authorities said Thursday the city's average life expectancy reached 83.37 last year, 0.24 higher than that of 2016.
According to the Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission, the average life expectancy of female residents in the city rose to 85.85, while that of male residents was 80.98.
The maternal mortality rate fell to 3.01 per 100,000 people and the infant mortality rate decreased to 3.71 per 1,000 infants.
The three health indicators for Shanghai citizens have maintained the same advanced levels of the world's developed countries and regions for more than 10 successive years.
