KIEV, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree allowing foreign troops to take part in military exercises in Ukraine this year, the president's press service said Monday.

Kiev plans to hold six international drills on Ukraine's territory in 2018, according to the decree posted on the presidential website, adding the military exercises will be attended by 7,950 foreign military personnel and involve 68 aerial vehicles as well as 31 ships from abroad.

Particularly, the document provides legal grounds for 2,200 foreign troops in the Sea Breeze 2018 naval exercises in the southern Odessa region, and enables 2,000 international servicemen to take part in the Rapid Trident 2018 command post and field maneuvers in the western Lviv region.

The Sea Breeze and the Rapid Trident are annual military events in Ukraine, involving the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and its partner countries, in a bid to boost interaction between the participating nations.

Last year, three multinational military exercises, including Sea Breeze 2017 and Rapid Trident 2017, were held in Ukraine.
