Indonesia, Timor-Leste FMs meet to discuss border issues, bilateral ties expansion

JAKARTA, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with her Timor-Leste counterpart Aurelio Sergio Guterres here on Wednesday, agreeing to speed up settlements on the two neighboring nations' border disputes.

The two ministers also discussed various agendas aimed at enhancing further bilateral cooperations in connectivity, infrastructure projects in border areas, technical assistance, education and training sectors.

The two ministers agreed to expand road and bridge constructions in border areas to improve goods and people transportation that would eventually bring positive benefit for those living there.

Cooperation in air transport was also discussed during the meeting, to assign Indonesia and Timor-Leste airlines of TransNusa and Air Timor to serve charter flights between Timor-Leste capital Dili and capital of Indonesia's border province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Kupang.

The latest meeting between Retno and Aurelio was the third since the latter was inaugurated as Timor-Leste foreign minister in September last year. The visiting Timor-Leste foreign minister would be in Indonesia until Friday from Tuesday.
