KIEV, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has become a full-fledged member of the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean (PEM) Convention on the rules of origin, local media reported Friday, citing a press release of the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

According to the press release, the move will open up new opportunities for Ukraine's trade in goods, including those with added value, with other countries of the treaty.

Ukraine's accession to the PEM Convention will contribute to the growth of industries as food sector and machine-building, as well as textile, footwear and car components production.

Apart from Ukraine, 42 countries and territories in Europe and Mediterranean joined the treaty.

In the first eleven months of 2017, the PEM Convention countries accounted for 58.9 percent of Ukraine's total exports.
