CHICAGO, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors announced to recall nearly 227,000 vehicles in the U.S. market as loose glass sunroofs can fly off and parking brakes may fail, local media reported on Friday.

The sunroof recall covers about 57,000 Outlanders built from 2007 to 2010, Lancers from 2008 to 2010, Lancer Evolutions from 2009 and 2010, and 2010 Lancer Sportbacks. The sunroof glass can detach while the vehicle is in motion and become a hazard.

The parking brake recall covers more than 170,000 Outlanders from 2014 to 2016 and Outlander Sports from 2013 to 2016.

Mitsubishi said its dealers will replace the glass at no cost to the customer.

The recalls for sunroofs and parking brakes both start from March 27 this year.

Mitsubishi just reported January 2018 sales of 8,480 units in U.S., up 31.3 percent over January 2017.
