Chinese shares close mixed Monday

BEIJING, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed Monday as most shares in the two bourses lost.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.73 percent to close at 3,487.5, while the smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.81 percent lower at 10,836.25.

Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 447 billion yuan (70.95 billion U.S. dollars), down from 462.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks lost, with losers outnumbering gainers by 773 to 491 in Shanghai, and by 1,240 to 561 in Shenzhen.

Shares in sectors including banking and coal mining led the gains, with stocks of China Everbright Bank and Bank of Ningbo surging by 6.62 percent and 7.67 percent, respectively.

Bucking the trend, shares of liquor markers lost. Kweichow Moutai, China's leading liquor maker, saw its share price down 2.99 percent to 718.23 yuan, while Shanxi Xinghuacun Fen Wine Factory Co. lost by the daily limit of 10 percent.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style enterprises, lost 0.83 percent to close at 1,688.27.
