JAKARTA, Feb.8 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government plans to check and evaluate all preparation for the Asian Games after holding test events in a bid to ensure all that everything is go for the event.

Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi said that the evaluation includes checking and evaluating the readiness of committee members to hold the regional sporting event, sport facilities, transportation, and security.

"After the test events we will undertake evaluations, in a bid to uncover our weaknesses. Athletes dormitories and traffic will also be included in the evaluation," he said on Thursday.

Traffic jams in Indonesia's capital have been one of the main obstacles, but the committee of the Asian Games is cooperating with police to address the problem.

The 18th Asian Games is scheduled to be held mainly in two major Indonesian cities, including the country's capital of Jakarta and Palembang, the provincial capital of South Sumatra from August 18 to September 2.

More than 11,000 athletes and officials from 45 nations and regions will come into Jakarta and Palembang city to take part in the regional sport event, according to the committee.

Host Indonesia will stage events in 40 sports during the Asian Games.

Indonesia was awarded the Games in September 2014, after the original host, Vietnam withdrew for economic reasons.

Indonesian athletes have set a target of 8th position in the Games with 15 gold medals.
